Aiken, SC---The Flying Fleet offense erupted for 18 runs on 17 hits to take an 18-5 victory over #4 USC-Aiken Friday night at Roberto Hernandez field.
Junior Greg Huff (McDonough, GA, Henry County High School) led the game off with a home run to straight away center field. Keith Hill (Abbeville, SC, Abbeville High School) would follow with a walk and later score on a sacrifice fly by Matt Schneider (Greenville, SC, Greenville High School) to give Erskine the 2-0 lead and they would not look back. The Fleet would blow the game wide open with 10 runs in the fourth and fifth innings. The big blows in the two innings were a three run home run by Huff and a grand slam from Bryan Fogle (Lexington, SC, Lexington High School). The home run was Fogle’s 20th on the season, making him the first player in school history to reach the 20 home run plateau.
Huff went 5-6 with two home runs and five RBIs to lead the Fleet offense, while Fogle finished 3-3 with a home run and four runs batted in. Chas Anthony (Pickens, SC, Pickens High School) was also 2-5 with a double, home run and four RBIs.
Senior Mike Moore (Lexington, SC, Gilbert High School) finished out his career in style, allowing three runs on six hits in 6.2 innings of work to pick up his school record 32nd career win.
With the win, Erskine improves to 36-17 on the season and will conclude their two game series with USC-Aiken tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
