Keith Hill's Three Run Home Run Lifts Erskine to Championship Game

Fleet Defeat Anderson in Thriller to Advance to Championship

WILSON, N.C.--Keith Hill (Abbeville, SC, Abbeville High School) hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally No. 4 seed Erskine College to a 10-9 victory in Saturday's first game of the 2009 Conference Carolinas Baseball Tournament hosted by Barton College at historic Fleming Stadium.
 
The Flying Fleet (35-11) remain the only unbeaten team in the tournament and will wait to find out their opponent in the Championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
Ryan Saxon hit a grand slam to cap a five-run top of the eighth to give the Trojans a late 9-7 advantage before Keith Hill rallied Erskine back in the home half with his clutch homer.
 
Anderson (23-19) will play the winner of the Belmont Abbey/Barton game on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. for the right to face Erskine in the championship game.
 
Keith Hill (Abbeville, SC, Abbeville High School) was 3-for-5 with five RBI. Atlee Pearson (Duncan, SC, Byrnes HS) (6-2) picked up the win in relief while William Buzhardt (Columbia, SC, Ben Lippen High School) earned his second save by tossing a scoreless ninth.
 
Cory Welch (3-6) was tagged with the loss. Saxon had four RBI while Matt Hill drove in three runs.
 
Chas Anthony also hit a solo home run for the Fleet.
