Due West, SC---Barton College scored 12 runs on 16 hits to take a 12-8 victory over Erskine College Friday afternoon in the opening game of the Conference Carolinas series. 

Barton took a 3-0 lead in the second on a three run home run by Will Johnson, but the Fleet would answer in the bottom half with a two run home run by Mo Seay (Anderson, SC, Wofford College) and an RBI double from Cody McElhaney (Beech Island, SC, Midland Valley HS) to tie the game up.  The Bulldogs would regain the lead with two runs in the third with an RBI double by Zach Boyette, who scored when the throw home landed in dead territory.  Erskine would once again tie the game in the bottom of the inning with a two run single by John Bolding (Pickens, SC, Pickens High School).  Jonathan Nichols would hit a two run home run in the fourth to put Barton up 7-5 and the Bulldogs would go on to a 12-8 win.

Nichols led the Bulldogs going 3-5 with a home run and three RBIs, while Wesley Francis was 4-5 with a double, RBI and three runs scored.  Brandon Brinson picked up the win allowing eight runs on 11 hits in eight and two-thirds innings of work.

Chas Anthony (Pickens, SC, Pickens High School) was 3-4 with a home run and RBI for the Fleet, while Bryan Fogle (Lexington, SC, Lexington High School) was 2-4 with a double, home run and two runs batted in.  William Buzhardt (Columbia, SC, Ben Lippen High School) took the loss allowing seven runs in three and two-thirds innings of work.

Due to heavy rain earlier in the day, the double header that was scheduled for today was pushed back to tomorrow, with first pitch at 12:00 pm.
