#10 Fleet Split with #24 Pfeiffer

Misenheimer, NC---The 10th ranked Flying Fleet split two games with #24 Pfeiffer University this weekend.  Friday’s game was suspended after four innings due to rain, and was completed on Saturday with the Fleet winning 2-0, while Pfeiffer won the second game 13-0.  The final game of the series was cancelled due to rain.

Game one was a pitchers duel on Friday, with William Buzhardt (Columbia, SC, Ben Lippen High School) of Erskine and Jonathan McDaniel matching each other through four innings.  With a 0-0 game in the top of the fifth, the game was suspended due to heavy rain.  The teams started back up in the fifth on Saturday, and John Bolding (Pickens, SC, Pickens High School) led off the top of the inning with a home run over the center field fence to put Erskine up 1-0.  The Fleet would add an insurance run in the top of the eighth on an RBI single by Keith Hill (Abbeville, SC, Abbeville High School) and held on for the victory.

Russell Reid (Hudson, NC, South Caldwell HS) (5-1) came in relief the fifth after the restart and matched Buzhardt’s performance to pick up the victory.  Reid allowed just two hits in five innings of work and struck out six Falcons.  Bolding was 2-3 with a home run and RBI to lead the Fleet.  Hill finished with a single and run driven in, while Chas Anthony (Pickens, SC, Pickens High School) added a double and Greg Huff (McDonough, GA, Henry County High School) and Cody McElhaney (Beech Island, SC, Midland Valley HS) each had a single.

The Falcons came out in game two and scored in three of the first four innings to take the 13-0 victory.  Huff, McElhaney, Brandon Garrett (Woodruff, SC, Woodruff HS), and Luke Danielewicz (Spartanburg, SC, Dorman High School) each had a hit apiece for the Fleet in the loss.  Mike Moore (Lexington, SC, Gilbert High School) (4-2) picked up the loss allowing two runs (one earned) in two innings of work.
