#16 Erskine Pounds Out 21-4 Victory Over North Greenville

Tigerville, SC---The 16th ranked Flying Fleet pounded out 20 hits, including 12 extra base hits in a 21-4 victory over the Crusaders of North Greenville University Friday afternoon in non conference baseball action.


 

The Fleet got on the board in the first inning when Greg Huff (McDonough, GA, Henry County High School) led the game off with a double and then scored on a double by Chas Anthony (Pickens, SC, Pickens High School).  Matt Schneider (Greenville, SC, Greenville High School) came up next and doubled to score Anthony.  With two outs in the first, Mo Seay (Anderson, SC, Wofford College) blasted a two run home run over the left field wall to give Erskine a 4-0 lead.  The Crusaders would scratch across a run in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to 4-1, but the Fleet would respond with a run in the second to push their lead back to four.  After a solo home run from Huff to lead off the fourth inning, Anthony would double and the score on a single by John Bolding (Pickens, SC, Pickens High School) to make it a 7-2 game.  After the Crusaders cut the lead to 7-4, the Fleet would blow the game wide open, scoring 14 runs in the final four innings to take the 21-4 victory.

 

Anthony led the Fleet at the plate going 4-5 with two doubles and a RBI and Seay was 2-5 with a double, home run, and five RBIs.  Huff was 3-6 with two doubles and three runs driven in and Schneider was 3-4 with a double and three RBIs.  Keith Hill (Abbeville, SC, Abbeville High School) and Cody McElhaney (Beech Island, SC, Midland Valley HS) both added home runs for the Fleet in the victory.  Mike Moore (Lexington, SC, Gilbert High School) picked up the win allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits in seven innings of work and striking out five.  Chris Hall (Batesburg, SC, Batesburg-Leesville HS) came in for Erskine and didn’t allow a run on three hits in the final two innings of the game.

 

With the win Erskine improves to 18-7 on the season.  The double header scheduled for tomorrow has been moved due to incoming rain and has been rescheduled for April 2 at 1:30 PM.
