Anderson, SC---The Anderson University Trojans defeated the Erskine College Flying Fleet 7-3 Tuesday evening in non conference baseball action at Memorial Stadium.

 

The Trojans scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the first and added three more in the third to take a 5-0 lead. Erskine would cut into the Anderson lead in the top of the fifth when Mo Seay (Anderson, SC, Westside HS) scored on a sacrifice fly by Greg Huff (McDonough, GA, Henry County High School) to make it a 5-1 game. The Trojans answered right back with a run in bottom half of the inning to push their lead back to five. The Fleet again cut into the lead in the sixth, when Seay doubled to score Matt Schneider (Greenville, SC, Greenville High School) and then with the bases loaded Zach McCarthy (Spartanburg, SC, Byrnes HS) scored when Cody McElhaney (Beech Island, SC, Midland Valley HS) reached on an Anderson error to make it a 6-3 game. The Trojans would add an insurance run in the seventh inning and would hold on to the 7-3 victory.

 

Seay led the Fleet at the plate going 2-4 with a double and RBI, while John Bolding (Pickens, SC, Pickens High School) finished the game 2-4. Chachere Freeman (Columbia, SC, AC Flora HS) took the loss for the Fleet allowing four runs (two earned) in 2.1 innings of work.
