#26 Fleet Baseball Completes Conference Carolinas Sweep of Limestone

Due West, SC---26th ranked Erskine pounded out 30 hits and scored 21 runs in two games to complete a three game Conference Carolinas sweep of Limestone Saturday afternoon at Grier Field.

Limestone took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Phillip Soden scored an error by the Erskine shortstop, but the Fleet would respond in the bottom of the inning with five runs on seven hits to take a 5-1 advantage. Erskine would add two more in the second with back to back doubles from Bryan Fogle and Chas Anthony and an RBI single from Ross Hanna. The Fleet would not look back adding five more runs and taking the 12-6 victory.

Limestone was led at the plate by Drew Lydon who was 3-5 with a double and two RBIs and Adam McSwain who was 2-5 with a run batted in. Chris Zimmerman took the loss for the Saints allowing seven runs in 1 1/3 innings of work.

Erskine was led at the plate once again by Anthony who was 2-5 with a double and three RBIs, while Fogle, Hanna, and Matt Wurzer each had two hits and two runs driven in for the Fleet. Michael Moore picked up his fifth win of the season allowing just one earned run in seven innings and striking out five.

Erskine would come out in game two and take an early lead when Keith Hill scored on a sacrifice fly from Anthony in the bottom of the first to make it a 1-0 lead. The Fleet would add a run in the third inning before exploding for seven runs in the fourth inning capped off by a three RBI double from Hanna to make it a 9-0 game. The Saints would get on the board in the seventh inning on a two out two run home run from Josh Izokovic.

Izokovic was 1-2 with two RBIs while Soden and Brett Wease each had a single for the Saints. Kyle Matheney took the loss for Limestone allowing four runs on nine hits in three innings of work.

Hill was 3-4 with an RBI for the Fleet, while Atlee Pearson was 2-3 with a triple and run batted in, Greg Huff was 2-4 with a double and run scored, and Anthony was 2-3 with two RBIs.  William Buzhardt picked up the victory allowing two runs on three hits and striking out seven in a complete game effort.

Erskine improves to 19-0 on the season and 9-0 in the conference, while Limestone falls to 10-10 and 4-5.
