Michael Morrison

Morrison enters his second season in the Flying Fleet program as the Men’s Basketball Associate Head Coach in 2023-24.
 
An extremely successful player with over a decade of professional experience between the NBA and overseas leagues, Morrison also spent over 10 years coaching at the high school level before joining the Fleet.
 
Morrison joined Erskine from Legacy Early College, where he spent a season as the player development coach. Prior to that, he also had extensive stops as the head coach at J.L. Mann High School (3 years) and Eastside High School (5 years), leading Eastside to an Upper State 4A Region championship in 2017. He also has coaching experience at Laurens High School, Gray Court Owings Middle School, Greenville High School, and St. Joseph’s Catholic School.
 
Morrison played collegiately at Loyola University (MD), where he was a two-time team captain of the Greyhounds and graduated with a B.A. in Mass Communications. He had a decorated college career, being the leading scorer in all Division I colleges in Maryland for two seasons and became the first Loyola player to be a two-time All-ECAC Metro 1st Team honoree.
 
After his college career, Morrison became the first Loyola player to be selected in the NBA Draft, where he was taken in the second round by the Phoenix Suns. He spent the next five years in five NBA organizations (Phoenix, Washington, Dallas, Philadelphia, Orlando) before playing the following nine seasons overseas.
 
Following his playing career, Morrison stayed involved with basketball and has experience in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL), the Elite 100 Coaches organization, Chris Paul’s Elite Guard Camp, and the Nike Skills Academies for Chris Paul, Amare Stoudemire, Vince Carter, Anthony Davis, and LeBron James.
 
Morrison is married to his wife, Harelda, and a father of four children; Tylia, Johanna, Nicholas, and Mikayla.
