Thomas Wheeler

Thomas Wheeler is in his second season as an assistant coach for the Flying Fleet baseball program. After his first year as the hitting coach for the Fleet he helped see to a nationally ranked offense. Wheeler helped guide the Fleet offense to being nationally ranked in doubles(13th), hits (t-28th), and runs per game (32nd) while posting a .324 team batting average. Wheeler helped coach Pierce Radke to an All-Conference Carolinas 1st Team selection at second base in 2026. 
 
He joined the Fleet in 2025 after one year at Pratt Community College as the hitting coach/outfield coach. During his tenure with the Beavers, the team had several All-KJCCC West Honorable Mention. Thomas Wheeler began his coaching career at Pierce Community College in the Northwest Athletic Conference where he served as a volunteer assistant coach. 
 
Wheeler attended Old Dominion University for three years where he played in the CUSA and SBC. Wheeler played center field for the Monarchs where they saw to a CUSA Championship in 2021 with an overall record of 44-16 and an 11th ranked national seed as host in the regional. Also, made it to the regional final appearance in 2021. The Monarchs finished second in the country with 105 home runs in 2021, only to be upstaged by themselves the following season, hitting 128 home runs in 2022, good for the third-most nationwide. In 2022 they also had an overall record of 41-17 and made a run in the CUSA Semi-final game.  
 
Prior to playing at Old Dominion, Wheeler played junior college baseball in the Northwest Athletic Conference for Tacoma Community College for two years where they saw to a 41-10 overall record his freshman year for the Trojans. Making it to the semi-finals in the NWAC tournament in 2018-2019.
 
Wheeler earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education from Old Dominion University and his Master’s Degree in Coaching Education from Old Dominion University in 2023.
 
Thomas Wheeler is married to Kaylee Wheeler where they currently reside in Anderson, SC.
