HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite a strong opening 15 minutes from the Fleet that included shots on target from
Jahdai Prince and
Zach Hart, as well as a couple long-distance strikes from
Joe Roberts, the Fleet were unable to strike first, and it was the visitors who scored the game's first goal in the 33rd minute. YHC added a second goal right on the brink of halftime to double its lead.
Luca Barwalde made a career-high 14 saves in goal for Erskine, and the Fleet created some opportunities in the second half as they threatened to get back within a goal but were unable to apply some game pressure to the preseason favorites in Conference Carolinas, falling by a score of 2-0.
THE TEAM
Erskine was outshot by Young Harris 27 to 12, and the Mountain Lions had a 16 to 5 advantage in shots on target. Both teams were whistled for eight fouls and Young Harris tallied both corner kicks in the match.
WHAT'S NEXT?
A grueling week in league play concludes this weekend for the Fleet, who visit Chowan University (0-2-1, 0-1-0 CC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. to conclude a stretch where Erskine will see two of the top three teams in Conference Carolinas in a five-day span.
