BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Erskine College men's soccer team (0-7-1, 0-6-0 CC) was defeated by Lees-McRae (7-0-2, 4-0-2 CC) by a score of 2-0 at Tate Field on Saturday.
Continuing a grueling stretch in league play full of road challenges, the Fleet took on a Lees-McRae team who has been ranked as high as number eight in Division II national polls this season and stayed within a goal of the Midwest Divsion leaders in Conference Carolinas for over 86 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A superb first-half performance from the Fleet defensively, including six saves from freshman goalkeeper
Marc Navarro in his first collegiate start, kept the match scoreless at the break. Lees-McRae broke the deadlock in the 50th minute, but the Fleet stayed in the match and generated attacking chances of their own in search of an equalizer with
Zach Hart,
Logan Neely-Habegger, and
Connor Blake all recording shots. Erskine remained within a goal against one of the unbeatens in Conference Carolinas all the way until the 87th minute in what was a strong showing from the Fleet.
THE TEAM
Erskine was outshot by Lees-McRae 27 to 4, and LMC had a 13 to 2 advantage in shots on target. Erskine totaled five corner kicks in the match and were called for just 10 fouls to the Bobcats' 16.

Erskine finishes this challenging stretch with another road trip to an unbeaten conference foe, Young Harris College (5-0-3, 4-0-0 CC), on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.Â
