HOW IT HAPPENED
In the Fleet's 2026 road opener, a 9th-minute goal from the Pacers put them in front. However, Erskine stemmed the tide and junior transfer
Peyton Williams scored his first Erskine goal and the Fleet's first goal of the season by converting from the penalty spot in the 26th minute to tie the match at one. But, the hosts scored twice more in the ensuing minutes before the break and added a fourth just seconds into the second half.
Jahdai Prince opened his account for the season with a 63rd-minute goal but the Fleet were unable to generate any more pressure after getting it back to 4-2 in the final 27 minutes of the match.
THE TEAM
Erskine was outshot by USC Aiken, 15 to 11, and the Pacers had a seven to four advantage in shots on target. The Fleet did total five corner kicks in the match and limited USC Aiken to just two.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine goes back on the road this weekend to begin Conference Carolinas play at Shorter University (1-0) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The Fleet and Hawks split their two meetings last year with each team winning on its home field.
