HOW IT HAPPENED
Hoping to salvage the final game of the weekend in the Sunshine State, Erskine got off to a quick start as a
Pierce Radke first-inning double plated
Drew Potts to give the Fleet an early lead. Barry scored twice in the third to go in front, but
Danny Villafane's RBI double in the fourth before scoring on a wild pitch put the Fleet back on top, 3-2. But, a two-run home run from the Buccaneers in the bottom half regained their lead before they added another in the fifth. Villafane scored again in the sixth, this time on a passed ball to get Erskine within a run, but the hosts recorded the game's next three runs to put the Fleet behind 8-4 after seven innings.
Evan Rodriguez hit a ground-rule double in the eighth that scored
Matthew Dumas as the Fleet attempted a late rally but were unable to draw closer.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine sets its sight back at home in the friendly confines of Grier Field, where the Fleet will have their home opener and begin a nine-game home stand when Claflin University (1-2) on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
