DUE WEST, S.C. – Erskine announced this week that they will be delaying the start of competition for the Erskine Flag Football program until the 2026-2027 academic year.

The Fleet are excited for the start of this new athletic program that will include the class of 2025 currently on campus, who will redshirt and continue practicing this year, and they will be joined by the class of 2026 to play in the program's inaugural season next academic year.

"Traditionally when adding a new sport, we have hired a coach and given that coach a year to recruit," Erskine Director for Athletics Mark Peeler said. "We tried to expedite the process with flag football but, unfortunately, we ran into some unexpected roadblocks with our coaching situation that have delayed the process. We are all excited about flag football starting in the spring of 2027 at Erskine College."

Erskine Athletics continues to be excited to be a part of the energy and excitement surrounding women's flag football in Conference Carolinas, the region, and across the country.
