HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Carson-Newman 8-0 Erskine (Final / 5 innings)
Facing some stiff competition this weekend on the coast, Erskine saw Carson-Newman score three runs in the second inning to go in front, and then added runs in the next two frames to extend its lead. The Fleet offense struggled against a pair of Eagles' pitchers, with Erskine managing just four hits in the game.
Game 2: USC Beaufort 10-1 Erskine (Final / 5 innings)
In the second game of the day, the Fleet started much better, with
Kara West and
Gabby Burroughs each singling to start the Erskine rally in the very first inning.
Kennedy Crouch was hit by a pitch to load the bases and
Addy Donald's RBI groundout scored West for the game's first run. However, the hosts responded in a big way, scoring six times in the bottom half of the opening frame, as the Fleet could not keep up with the Sandsharks.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine will take on Carson-Newman and USC Beaufort again on Saturday, starting with a rematch against the Eagles at 11 a.m. and then wrapping up the weekend against the Sandsharks at 3 p.m.
