HOW IT HAPPENED
Barton took an early lead with a goal in the 13th minute, but the Fleet picked up the level of their play after the goal on both ends.
Axel Hernandez highlighted Erskine's attacking chances with a pair of shots, including one on target, while the Fleet defense contained Barton to keep it a 1-0 game at the half. Erskine continued to grow into the match into the second half and was rewarded in the 65th minute with an equalizing goal.
Joshua Beiler drove the Fleet forward on a counter attack and the ball ricocheted around into the path of
Peyton Williams on the left wing, who laid the ball off to the top of the box for
Kaden Manigault. Manigault took a touch to get it out of his feet and unleashed a low line drive that nestled into the bottom right corner to draw Erskine level. However, the Bulldogs had an immediate response, regaining their lead less than a minute later and their attacking prowess allowed them to pull away from the Fleet down the stretch.
THE TEAM
Erskine was outshot by Barton 24 to 14, and the Bulldogs had a 14 to 5 advantage in shots on target. The Fleet were called for just four fouls to Barton's 10 and there were no yellow cards issued in the match.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine will look to rebound with a home matchup against Emmanuel University (4-5-1, 4-3-0 CC) on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
