DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College men's basketball team (0-14, 0-9 CC) was defeated by Francis Marion University (5-13, 5-5 CC) by a score of 56-54 at Belk Arena on Wednesday night.
After surrendering an 8-0 run to open the game, the Fleet responded and flipped that deficit on its head, behind stifling defense and four made threes in the first half from
Max Peeler to send the Fleet to the locker room with a 34-26 lead. However, FMU's extended defense slowly got the visitors back into the game, until the Patriots regained the lead with 2:14 to go, as part of a 10-0 run.
Andrei Kyle Honrada's layup with a minute left got Erskine back within a possession and the Fleet had a chance in the final seconds to get the win, but their 3-point attempt fell short.
