Erskine Softball | Fleet close out regular season at Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Erskine College softball team (8-34, 4-20 CC) was defeated by Young Harris College (22-22, 12-12 CC) in both games of a doubleheader at the YHC Softball Field on Wednesday in the Flying Fleet's final games of the 2025 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Young Harris 13-3 Erskine (Final / 5 innings)
On the final day of the regular season for the Fleet, it was the hosts who started fast, posting a four-run first inning to put Erskine in an early hole. The Fleet got on the board in the third with a Peyton Rabon RBI double, and Emily Brown's RBI single in the fourth was followed shortly by a wild pitch that allowed her to score Erskine's third run of the game, but the Fleet could not keep up with the YHC offense in the opener.

Game 2: Young Harris 8-7 Erskine (Final / 8 innings)
In the back half of the doubleheader, it was the Fleet who struck first, thanks to an RBI single from Gabby Burroughs. Emily Johnson's second-inning sacrifice fly scored Amber Clark to put Erskine back in front, but the Fleet trailed 3-2 after three innings. That score remained until Burroughs delivered again, launching a three-run blast in the sixth, her 12th home run of the season, to put Erskine back on top, 5-3. A two-run home run by YHC in the bottom of the seventh forced extra innings, but Burroughs continued her monster game at the plate, lining a two-run single into center field in the eighth to break the tie. But, Young Harris scored three times in the bottom half as the Fleet lost a heartbreaker in extra innings to finish the season. 

WHAT'S NEXT?
Following Wednesday's action, Erskine has not qualified for the upcoming 2025 Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament, meaning the Fleet's season has come to an end.
