GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Erskine College women's basketball team (1-2) was defeated by Lander University (1-3) by a score of 72-57 at Finis Horne Arena in the Fleet's road opener on Wednesday afternoon.
Erskine started the game on the wrong end of a 16-0 run, but clawed back into the contest, closing the opening frame on a 12-2 run of their own. The Fleet trailed by just one at the half, but the slow start proved to be costly as Lander regained its lead in the second half.

Erskine shot 43% (20-47) from the field and 36% (5-14) from the three-point line, as well as 80% (12-15) from the free throw line. However, the Fleet committed 35 turnovers, which gave the Bearcats a 35 to 16 advantage in points off turnovers that proved to be the difference.

Erskine has a week off before its conference opener, hosting Emmanuel University (3-2, 1-1 CC) on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
