DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College women's basketball team (1-1) was defeated by Newberry College (5-0) by a score of 68-57 at Belk Arena on Monday evening.

THE TEAM
Erskine shot just 29% (17-58) from the field and 21% (5-24) from the three-point line, as well as 69% (18-26) from the free throw line. The Fleet battled through adversity, losing two starters throughout the contest, to stay within striking distance for most of the game, until a Newberry run in the fourth quarter ended Erskine's chances. The Fleet were outscored in the paint, 46 to 22.

WHAT'S NEXT? 
Erskine has its first road game of the season, visiting rival Lander University (1-2) on Wednesday at noon.
