HOW IT HAPPENED
Back at home for this final stretch of the regular season, the Fleet had a tall test on their hands against a talented Francis Marion team. And FMU went in front in the 8th minute to put Erskine in an early deficit. The Fleet responded well and tested the Patriots goalkeeper on a couple of occasions but were unable to equalize before the visitors added a second right before the half. Again, Erskine pushed the Patriots a couple more times to start the second half, but a penalty goal from FMU in the 66th minute all but ended any chances for the Fleet to rally.
THE TEAM
Erskine was outshot by Francis Marion, 20 to 8, and the Patriots had an 8 to 3 advantage in shots on target and had 9 corners to the Fleet's 5.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine continues this grueling stretch to close the season against another premier conference opponent, when Young Harris College (10-1-3, 9-1-1 CC) comes to town on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
