DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine Men's and Women's Track & Field programs named Michael Morrison as their next head coach, Director of Athletics Mark Peeler announced earlier this week. 

"Mike has proven as an assistant basketball coach to have a genuine caring for our student-athletes. He relates well with them on an individual basis," Peeler said. "I think he will be a tremendous influence in our track program as he also continues to impact our men's basketball program."

Morrison has spent the past two season as the Associate Head Coach of the Erskine men's basketball program and will continue his involvement with that program as well as work in coordination with the new Director of Track & Field, Jeremy Heinold.

"I am incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of the Track & Field head coach. My passion for track and field extends beyond just the sport itself; it's about fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and personal growth," Morrison said. "Throughout my career, I have always believed in the power of hard work, dedication, and a positive mindset, and I am committed to instilling these values in our athletes."

Morrison was an accomplished track & field high school athlete, in addition to his decorated basketball career. He was an All-State finalist in the 100/200/400x1 event and also held the Maryland state relay high jump record.

The Fleet are continuing cross country preparations for the upcoming fall season, but will soon turn their attention to the indoor track & field season, which begins in early December.
