HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Emmanuel 11-8 Erskine (Final / 7 innings)
Coming off an extra-inning win in the series opener last night, Erskine started fast in the second game of the series, thanks to first-inning RBIs from
Adrian Rolon and
Tyler Smith. Emmanuel got a run back in the bottom half, but the Fleet offense responded in the third inning. This time, Erskine used the long ball for its run production, with a three-run blast from
Daniel Hernandez and a two-run home run from
Ben Maskin as Erskine opened up a 7-1 lead. However, the Lions scored in each of their next four trips to the plate, capped by a five-run sixth inning to take the lead. Hernandez added his second big fly of the game in the seventh, but Erskine was unable to get any closer, setting the stage for a rubber match later in the afternoon.
Game 2: Emmanuel 16-3 Erskine
The rubber match of the series was all Emmanuel from the outset, as Erskine trailed 7-0 after three innings. The Fleet got on the board with a home run from
Jorge Pascual in the fifth, and Pascual added a two-run double in the next inning, but Erskine could not keep up with the Emmanuel offense in the series finale.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine begins its final stretch of the regular season, playing nine of its last 10 games at home, starting with a mid-week battle against Augusta University (22-18, 11-9 PBC) on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Fleet won at Augusta, 10-4, back in early February.
