Erskine Men's Basketball | Lovette's career night lifts Fleet past Barton in overtime thriller

WILSON, N.C. – The Erskine College men's basketball team (3-6, 1-2 CC) defeated Barton College (5-3, 1-1 CC) by a score of 101-93 in overtime at Wilson Gymnasium on Saturday for the Fleet's first conference win of the young season.

Erskine trailed by seven at the break but battled back in the second half to turn the game into a back-and-forth contest. However, the hosts stretched the lead to 84-76 with just 1:20 remaining. But, Grant Lovette hit a pair of threes on consecutive possessions and then nailed a couple of clutch free throws with just four seconds remaining to force overtime.

Barton scored the first three points of the extra period, but Erskine answered with a 7-0 run to regain the lead for the first time since the 7:00 mark of the second half and never surrendered it to seal a come-from-behind win on the road.
