DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College women's volleyball team (6-19, 2-13 CC) was defeated by Shorter University (13-13, 8-7 CC) in five sets at Belk Arena on Wednesday night.
The Fleet were boosted by career nights from
Ali Angell (21 kills),
Ella Dietrich (7 blocks), and
Mahayla Law (22 digs), helping them rally to force the Hawks to a fifth set, where Erskine came up just short.

THE PLAYER
Despite the loss, freshman middle blocker
Ella Dietrich had her most productive night of her first season with the Fleet. Dietrich totaled a career-best 7 blocks, to go along with 12 digs, 2 aces, and 3 kills, battling one of the premier front rows in Conference Carolinas throughout the night.
THE TEAM
Erskine hit .166 (54 K / 25 E / 175 A) for the match, while Shorter posted a .194 hitting percentage as a team. The Fleet outblocked the Hawks, 8 to 3, but were undone by 14 aces from Shorter.
WHAT'S NEXT?Â
Erskine closes the regular season with a pair of road matches, starting at Young Harris College (5-13, 5-9 CC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Fleet tamed the Mountain Lions in four sets in Due West back in September.
