SWANNANOA, N.C. – The Erskine College women's basketball team (1-0) defeated Warren Wilson College (0-3) by a score of 83-64 at the Devries Athletic Gymnasium on Tuesday evening in the Flying Fleet's 2024-25 season opener.
Erskine trailed by three at the half but exploded for 53 second-half points to pull away from the Owls in the final two periods.
Ahrianna Scott scored a team-high 14 points for Erskine, as part of three Fleet players who reached double figures in the contest.

Freshman center
Genesis Young nearly recorded a double-double in limited action in her first collegiate game. The Spartanburg native totaled 9 points and a team-high 11 rebounds in just 9 minutes of action. Young went 3-for-6 from the field and 3-for-4 from the foul line, while also adding five offensive rebounds.
THE TEAM
Erskine shot 31% (32-103) from the field but just 13% (4-32) from the three-point line, as well as just 56% (15-27) from the free throw line. The Fleet were swarming on the defensive end, totaling 25 steals, as part of 46 forced turnovers, which led to 35 of the Erskine points. The Fleet outscored the Owls in second chance points, 25 to 3, and got 38 points from its bench.
