DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College women's basketball team (3-15, 1-10 CC) was defeated by Emmanuel University (13-6, 9-2 CC) by a score of 55-48 at Belk Arena on Wednesday evening.
The Fleet started slow offensively, but stayed within striking distance all game long, and gave a real test to the Southwest divsion-leading Lions.

Senior guard
Anzya Cook kept the Fleet alive with a number of timely buckets, finishing with a game-high 18 points on 8-for-16 shooting. Cook also totaled a team-best 9 rebounds, while adding three steals and an assist.
THE TEAM
Erskine shot 32% (20-62) from the field, but were just 13% (2-15) from the three-point line, and 50% (6-12) from the free throw line. The Fleet forced 23 turnovers and scored 23 points off those Lions' giveaways, and also outscored Emmanuel in the paint, 28 to 20.
WHAT'S NEXT?Â
Erskine starts a lengthy road trip this weekend with a matchup against the University of Mount Olive (5-13, 3-7 CC) on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Fleet won't be back at home again until late February, when they close the regular season with a three-game home stand.
