HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Francis Marion 10-2 Erskine (Final / 5 innings)
Following an Amber Clark hit by pitch to lead off the game and a Kyndall Chandler, the Fleet had an early threat in the top of the first inning. Peyton Rabon laid down a beautiful bunt single, scoring Clark and opening the scoring in the game. A few pitches later, Gabby Burroughs singled through the left side to give Erskine an early 2-0 lead after just half an inning. FMU got on the board in the bottom of the first and then scored four times in the second to take its first lead, 5-2. The Patriots added four more runs in the fourth and another in the fifth, winning Game 1 via the run rule.

Game 2: Francis Marion 15-6 Erskine (Final / 5 innings)
Peyton Rabon and Gabby Burroughs each had first-inning RBIs again in Game 2 to give the Fleet an early lead, but FMU answered with a seven-run bottom of the first and Erskine was unable to keep up with the Patriots offense. Anna Taylor drove in a run on a fielder's choice in the second, and Kyndall Chandler and Tori Cooley each had RBIs in the Erskine fourth, but they could not slow down the Francis Marion lineup in Game 2.

THE PLAYER
Gabby Burroughs was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in the doubleheader, recording first-inning RBIs in each game.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine turns its attention to the 2023 Conference Carolinas Tournament, where the Fleet will be the No. 10 seed and begin the tournament in the play-in round against the No. 7 Seed University of Mount Olive (23-19, 12-10 CC) on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Tyger River Park in Duncan, S.C. The Fleet and Trojans scheduled regular season matchups back in late March were canceled due to inclement weather in Due West that weekend, so Thursday will be the first meeting of the season between the teams.
