DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College baseball team (22-16, 11-11 CC) was defeated by Augusta University (19-18, 11-13 PBC) by a score of 8-3 at Grier Field on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a couple of scoreless frames to start the day, Augusta opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the third inning. Erskine answered right back in the bottom half as an
Armando Becerra RBI single got the Fleet on the board.
Josh Collett worked a scoreless top of the fourth and an RBI groundout from
Carlos Gonzalez to get the Fleet within a run. But, the Jaguars scored twice in the fifth and and added a two-run home run in the eighth.
Christian Rivera led off the bottom of the ninth with his twelfth home run of the season, but Erskine came up short, 8-3.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine continues a unique out-of-conference stretch of games this weekend when they travel to the University of West Alabama (17-20, 12-12 GSC) for a three-game series starting on Friday at 2 p.m.
