HOW IT HAPPENED
After doubles from Armando Becerra and Christian Rivera to begin the game, Ashby Smith drove in the opening run with an RBI single as the Fleet wasted no time getting on the board. Tariq Bacon followed with a two-run single, before Daniel Hernandez capped the big inning with a monster three-run home run, giving Erskine starter Harry Bernard a 6-0 lead before he even took the mound. And Bernard was phenomenal, allowing just three hits and no runs through his first innings of work. In the fifth inning, the Fleet piled it on behind another run-scoring hit from Ashby Smith and a two-run home run from Juan Jaime. Smith continued his big day with an RBI single in the sixth and a Saints error later in the frame made it 11-0 Fleet. Cal Kryska and Jaisen Randolph picked up RBIs in the seventh and Erskine held a convincing 13-0 lead going into the stretch. Jude Littrell joined the party with an RBI single in the eigth and the Fleet added another in the ninth, as Erskine totaled 15 runs in the contest. Bernard, along with solid bullpen outings from Cooper Guest, Ira Clifton, and Dustin Scoggins, finished a big 15-3 win for the Fleet.

THE PLAYER
Ashby Smith went 3-for-4 in the heart of the Erskine lineup, totaling two runs scored and three driven in as part of a 15-run onslaught from the Erskine offense.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Following an eight-game road stretch to begin the season, the Fleet will finally get set for their home opener as they take on Mars Hill University (1-7) on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Erskine walked off against the Lions in a 13-12 shootout over the Lions in Due West last season.
