HOW IT HAPPENED
Erskine continued its stretch of scoring early runs on Friday thanks to a David Hernandez RBI double to give starter Joe Alegre a 1-0 lead before he even took the mound. After Alegre set down Barry in the bottom of the first, Juan Jaime crushed a two-run home run to straightaway left field to give the Fleet a 3-0 lead. Barry scored twice in the second and again in the fourth inning to tie the game at 3, but Erskine responded in a big way. After base hits from Armando Becerra and Christian Rivera, Hernandez delivered again, this time with a two-run double that put the Fleet back in front. Ben Maskin followed with a two-run home run to double the Fleet's lead, and they weren't done yet. After a Tariq Bacon walk, Jaime launched his second big fly of the game and Erskine had opened up a commanding 9-3 lead. Daniel Hernandez answered a Barry run in the bottom half of the fifth with an RBI single to make it a 10-4 game. The Buccaneers made things interesting with a run in the seventh and three more in the eighth as the game headed into the ninth with Erskine holding just a 10-8 lead. But, the Fleet offense exploded again to regain their cushion. Dale Francis, Jr. got the scoring started with his first home run of the season, and then Becerra and Rivera each had run-scoring singles, giving Erskine a 14-8 win in its second game of the weekend.

THE PLAYER
Juan Jaime provided the Fleet offense with a big jolt near the bottom of the lineup, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs, hitting his first home runs as a member of the Flying Fleet on Friday night.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine wraps up the weekend in Florida with a tall test against No. 22 Nova Southeastern University (3-1) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
