GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Erskine College men's basketball team (1-5, 0-1 CC) was defeated by Lander University (6-1) by a score of 72-60 at Finis Horne Arena on Tuesday night. Lander is currently ranked 8th in the D2CSC Southeast Regional top 10 poll.
Although the Fleet never led, Erskine made timely baskets to stay within striking distance, coming within just one point of the Bearcats, 41-40 at the 15:12 mark of the second half. However, Lander went on a 16-7 run to stretch its lead to double digits and the Fleet were unable to close the margin.

Christian Monroe continued to shine, totaling a 21 points, on 8-15 shooting, including 3-5 from long distance. Monroe also added 7 rebounds and scored 10 of the Fleet's first 12 points in the second half to spark Erskine's attempt at a comeback.
THE TEAM
Erskine shot 43% (23-54) from the field and 37% (7-19) from the three-point line. The Fleet, though, were just 54% (7-13) from the free throw line and were outscored in the paint, 32 to 22.
WHAT'S NEXT?Â
After a three-game road trip, Erskine returns home for a pair of games before the holidays, starting with a matchup against Lees-McRae College (6-1, 1-0 CC) on Thursday at 4 p.m.
