Erskine Women's Golf | Guzman wins St. Simons Intercollegiate, earns Conference Carolinas Golfer of the Week

SAINT SIMONS, Ga. – The Fleet Women's Golf Team wrapped up their fall 2023 season with a 7th-place finish at the St. Simons Intercollegiate, hosted by Lincoln Memorial University, earlier this week. Sophomore Amanda Guzman won the individual title in the event, posting a one-over par 145 scorecard and earning her second collegiate victory.

A junior from Valparaiso, Chile, Amanda Guzman of Erskine claimed top individual honors at the 2023 St. Simons Intercollegiate held at the King and Prince Golf Club in St. Simons, Georgia. 

Guzman opened with a 71 at the par-72, 5,771-yard course setup. She followed that up with a 74 to finish with a two-round tally of 145. The two-round score allowed her to best the field by two strokes. Erskine finished in seventh place as a team with a two-round score of 628 (312-316).

THE FIELD
The hosts of the event, Lincoln Memorial won the title with a 34-over par performance as a team, leading to a four-stroke victory. Guzman beat out Newberry's Noelia Adkins by two strokes, thanks to a one-under performance in Round 1, compared to Adkins' four-over score on the opening day.

WHAT'S NEXT?
This event marked the end of the Fleet's fall season, as Erskine will head into a break from competition for the next four months before starting the spring season at the Spring Kick Off Invitational from February 12-13, also hosted by Lincoln Memorial University.
