DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College men's soccer team (1-7-1, 1-4-1 CC) was defeated by Bob Jones University (3-2-1) by a score of 5-0 in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening at Huggins Field.

THE MATCH
Bob Jones took an early lead on an Erskine own goal in the 7th-minute. But, following a slow start, the Fleet settled in the match and their attack began to get involved. In the 29th minute, Roman De Leon was fouled in the box and won a penalty kick for the Fleet with a chance to draw level. But, the penalty kick was missed and in the 38th minute, the Bruins doubled their lead. Bob Jones added another goal in the 44th minute, and despite each side having 4 shots in the first half, the visitors took a 3-0 lead into the break. Erskine outshot the Bruins 5 to 2 in the second half, but BJU was clinical, scoring both of their chances as Erskine was defeated 5-0.

Erskine outshot Bob Jones 9 to 6, but the Bruins had a 5 to 1 advantage in shots on target.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine returns to conference play this weekend when they go on the road to Chowan University (3-4-1, 3-1-0 CC) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Hawks defeated Erskine 3-0 in Due West last season.
