PINEVILLE, N.C. – The Erskine College men's soccer team (0-4, 0-1 CC) was defeated by Johnson & Wales University (NC) (3-1-2) by a score of 2-1 in a non-conference road match for the Fleet on Saturday afternoon at the OrthoCarolina Sportsplex.

THE MATCH
Johnson & Wales opened the scoring in the 10th-minute after a corner kick led to a goal from Luke Johnson. But, the Fleet responded well as freshman 
Alex Lopez tallied hist first collegiate goal just a few minutes later on a ball from 
Andres Rojas to tie the match at 1. The match was deadlocked at the halftime break, but a JWU goal less than 90 seconds into the second half from Josiah Davis proved to be the difference as the Wildcats earned a 2-1 win.
THE PLAYER
Freshman 
Alex Lopez led the Fleet with three shots and scored Erskine's lone goal, his first collegiate goal in the 13th minute to level the match a 1 apiece.
THE TEAM
Erskine was outshot 11 to 7, and JWU held a narrow 6 to 4 advantage in shots on target.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Flying Fleet go on the road for the first time in conference play this season on Tuesday afternoon when they take on King University (1-2-2, 0-1-1 CC) at 4:30 p.m. Erskine has won the last six meetings between the teams, including a 1-0 win in Due West last season on a match-winner from 
Dennis Cole.
