HOW IT HAPPENED
Limestone scored a run in each of the first two innings at the plate but the Fleet broke through in the third inning. On the very first pitch of the frame, Dalton Boyd uncorked a towering solo home run that just snuck inside the right field foul pole to get Erskine on the board, trailing 2-1. Armando Becerra followed with a ringing double to left field before Limestone pitchers issued three consecutive walks, the last being drawn by Ashby Smith which tied the game at 2. The Fleet left the bases loaded, spoiling a golden opportunity to take the lead, and Limestone capitalized in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to regain the lead, 3-2. But, in the bottom of the sixth inning, Becerra smoked an RBI double down the right field line to tie the game at 3. Weston Kerley was outstanding out of the Erskine bullpen, putting up zeroes on both sides of the Becerra game-tying double. Ira Clifton came on for the top of the eighth and induced three straight flyouts as he cruised through his first inning of work. Then, Kane Fisher led off the bottom of the eighth by ripping a single to right center field. Graham McCurry pinch ran for Fisher, representing the go-ahead run, stole second base and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Kyle Marti. That set the stage for Cal Kryska with McCurry just 90 feet away from giving Erskine a late lead. Kryska got jammed a bit but powered a single into center field to score McCurry and give the Fleet their first lead of the game. Clifton came back out on the mound for the ninth inning and worked around a leadoff error to slam the door shut on a 4-3 Erskine win.

THE PLAYER
Armando Becerra was 3-for-4 atop the Erskine lineup with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run scored.
