HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1: Belmont Abbey 3-1 Erskine
Kelci Brown led off the game with an infield single and then stole second base before Aly Salois singled Brown home as the Fleet wasted no time getting an early 1-0 lead. And for awhile, it seemed that might be all starter Kaley Ingle needed as she issued just one hit over four scoreless innings to begin her outing. The Erskine offense was held in check after that first-inning and the Crusaders eventually found a breakthrough, scoring twice in the fifth inning to take the lead. Belmont Abbey added an insurance run in the sixth inning as they won Game 1, 3-1.

GAME 2: Belmont Abbey 10-2 Erskine (Final / 5 innings)
The back half of the doubleheader saw the Fleet strike first again in the very first inning as three straight singles loaded the bases for Maddie Ingram. The Fleet's freshman shortstop reached on an infield single to score the game's first run, but a double play ended a chance for Erskine to put up a crooked number in their first at-bat. Then, the Crusaders scored a pair of runs in each of their first four innings at the plate to take a commanding 8-1 lead. Aly Salois doubled home a run in the fifth inning, but Belmont Abbey scored twice again in the fifth inning to bring the game to a run rule, 10-2.

THE PLAYER
Kelci Brown recorded at least one hit in both games of the doubleheader, going 3-for-5 with a walk and scored all three Erskine runs on the day.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Following a 10-day stretch without a home game, the Fleet finally are back in action in Due West on Saturday afternoon to take on Converse University (1-31, 0-8 CC) for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. Erskine swept a doubleheader at Converse last season and have won the last ten meetings against the Valkyries.
