HOW IT HAPPENED
Barton jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Fleet wasted no time cutting into the deficit thanks to a Shi Cain RBI single in the bottom half of the first to get the Fleet on the board. Kaley Ingle settled in on the mound after the opening frame, but the Erskine offense was held off the board as well through the middle innings. In the top of the fifth, the Bulldogs regained their three-run lead on an RBI double, but again the Fleet answered back. Kyndall Chandler hit an RBI double of her own in the bottom half to make it a 4-2 game. Ingle set down Barton in order in the top of the sixth and Erskine took advantage of the momentum in the bottom half. Maddie Ingram led off the inning with a single before Brooke Patterson launched a game-tying home run over the left field fence. Then, Ingle followed by helping herself with a solo home run as the Fleet went back-to-back and took their first lead of the game, 5-4, needing just three outs to seal a huge victory. But, Barton scored twice in their final at-bat to go back in front and the Fleet went quietly in the bottom of the seventh as Erskine lost a heartbreaker, 6-5.

THE PLAYER
Kaley Ingle launched a go-ahead, solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning as part of Erskine going back-to-back to take a late lead. Although, Ingle was tagged with the loss on the mound, she recorded a career-high 13 strikeouts.
