THE SERIES
Erskine still holds a 16-13 lead in the all-time series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After Erskine starter
Parker Jefferson put up a pair of zeroes in his first two innings of work, the Fleet offense struck first in the bottom half of the second inning.
Gregory Sanders and Kayle Marti each had a bunt single and
Dalton Boyd followed a few batters later with a sacrifice fly that scored Sanders and gave Erskine a 1-0 lead. But, the Coker offense exploded in the middle innings, scoring 11 runs in their next three frames to take a commanding 11-1 lead at the halfway point of the game.
Ashby Smith ripped an RBI triple in the bottom half of the fifth inning to make it an 11-2 game. In the eighth inning,
Armando Becerra stayed hot with a towering two-run home run to right field and
Dontae Wade scored in the ninth inning on a dropped third strike but the early deficit was too much for the Fleet as they were beaten by Coker, 11-5.
THE PLAYER
Kyle Marti was 3-for-4 at the plate, already recording his fourth game of his freshman campaign with three or more hits.
