DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College men's soccer team (1-12-1, 1-11-1 CC) was defeated by rival Anderson University (4-6-3, 2-4-3 SAC) by a score of 2-1 at Huggins Field on Saturday night. Andres Rojas scored in the 90th minute for his first goal of the season for the Fleet.

THE MATCH
After a hectic opening five minutes from both sides, the visiting Trojans began to control possession and chances with the Fleet looking lively on the counter. Evan Zizek made four first half saves, and with the help of his crossbar, held Anderson off the board in the opening half as the match went into the break scoreless. But, the Trojans found a breakthrough in the 50th-minute before appearing to seal the victory with another goal in the 81st-minute. Andres Rojas provided some late fireworks for Erskine with a phenomenal right-footed strike into the top right corner of the goal in the closing seconds, but the Fleet did not have enough time to find an equalizer as Anderson escaped with a 2-1 win.

THE PLAYER

THE TEAM
Erskine was outshot by Anderson 13 to 7 and the Trojans had a 7 to 3 advantage in shots on target.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine returns to conference play with its final home match of the season on Wednesday afternoon against Lees-McRae College (6-2-6, 4-1-4 CC) at 3:30 p.m. The Bobcats were 3-0 winners over the Fleet in Banner Elk last year, but Erskine earned a 2-0 win in the last meeting in Due West in the Spring 2021 season.
