SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Erskine College women's soccer team (0-13-1, 0-8-1 CC) was defeated by Converse University (4-10-1, 1-8-1 CC) by a score of 3-2 at Hayden Abney Fulp Field at Weisiger Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Kathryn Mobley and
Mike De Zanger scored on either side of the halftime whistle, but an 87th-minute goal gave the Valkyries a late winner.

THE MATCH
Converse outshot the Fleet 9 to 1 in the opening half and scored in the 12th and 24th minutes to take an early 2-0 lead. But, the Fleet battled back and quickly cut the deficit in half thanks to
Kathryn Mobley's second goal of the season, assisted by fellow freshman,
Clair Lewis. The Valkyries took a 2-1 lead into the break, but
Mike De Zanger scored her first Erskine goal in the 50th minute, leveling the match at 2 apiece. That looked to be enough to give the Fleet a draw, but Converse's Kaylee Couder scored in the 87th minute, giving them a 3-2 win.
THE PLAYER
Kathryn Mobley had two of Erskine's five shots, both of which were on target, and scored the Fleet's opening goal with a strike right at the half-hour mark.
THE TEAM
Converse outshot Erskine 15 to 5 and had a narrow 8 to 5 advantage in shots on goal.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine will play their final non-conference match of the season when they go to Bob Jones University (8-4-1) on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The Fleet and Bruins played to a scoreless draw in Due West last season.
