Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DUE WEST, S.C. – On Day 2 of the Erskine Tournament, the Flying Fleet suffered a 1-3 loss versus West Georgia in the 10 am matchup, and a 0-3 loss versus Mars Hill in the second matchup of the day.
 
MATCH 1 vs West Georgia
Set 1: The Fleet started off their first match of Day 2 slow, going down 2-8 early.  Communication on the court seemed to fluctuate as the Fleet's defense looked great at times, with multiple blocks at the net, as well as stagnant at some points.  The Fleet never pulled within 5 points, losing the first set 15-25.
 
Set 2: In set number 2 the Fleet again started off slow, going down 0-3 in the first minutes of the set.  This drought didn't last for long however, as the Fleet stormed back to take a 16-11 lead, largely due to a spectacular service run by Mallory Carter and some big attacking plays by both Meredith Hollinger and Katy Torgerson.  The Fleet would expand their lead to 10 points and finish the set with the 25-15 win.
 
Set 3: In the 3rd set,  both teams started strong and even, neither pulling ahead by more than 3 points, until a service error for the Fleet and an ace from West Georgia expanded their lead to 12-18.  The Fleet lost the set 18-25.

Set 4: The 4th set was all West Georgia as they never trailed in the set and handed Erskine the loss 13-25, winning the match 1-3.

MATCH 2 vs Mars Hill
Set 1: The Fleet started off with a rough first set versus visiting Mars Hill in the last game of the weekend at the Erskine Tournament.  Meredith Hollinger came out strong, but the Fleet defense at the net could not contend with the Mars Hill hitters.  The Fleet fell 15-25.
 
Set 2: In the second set, it was more of the same as the Fleet fell to Mars Hill, 8-25.
 
Set 3: In set number 3 the Fleet got good minutes off the bench from Taylor McClinton, Sierra Wolter, Megan Thees, and Rebekah Ruth Smith.  The Fleet fought hard but fell 18-25.

Erskine hit .043 (21 K / 16 E / 117 TA) for the match.

WHAT'S NEXT? 
The Fleet will play next against Lander University Tuesday the 6th at home.
