HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Erskine College men's soccer team (0-4-0) took on former conference foe Coker University (1-0) on Saturday afternoon at Coker Athletic Field. A second-minute goal put the Cobras ahead and the home side never looked back en route to a 4-0 win.

THE SERIES
Coker now leads the all-time series 5-2 and have won three straight meetings, but this was the first matchup since 2013 between the teams.

THE MATCH
In the Cobras' first match of the season, they wasted no time jumping out to an early lead as Jacques Fokam-Sandeu fired home just over 90 seconds in the game in what proved to be the deciding goal. Coker's Gabin Guillou doubled the hosts' lead in the 30th minute and the Cobras had a 2-0 halftime lead. Fokam-Sandeu scored his second of the match in the 60th minute before Markos Touroukis scored the game's fourth and final goal as the Fleet were defeated 4-0 against their former conference foe.

THE TEAM
Coker outshot Erskine 17 to nine overall and seven to three in shots on target. The Cobras were issued three of the match's five yellow cards.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Following a four-match road stretch to open their fall 2021 season, Erskine finally comes home for the first time on Saturday, September 18 when they welcome Lander University (2-2) at 4:30 p.m. at Huggins Field. The Fleet have won just one of 13 all-time meetings between the teams, but their most recent match in a 2-2 draw at Lander back in 2019.
