DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College men's soccer team (0-5) conceded a pair of goals in both halves in their fall 2021 home opener against Lander University (4-2, 1-0 PBC) in a 4-0 loss at Huggins Field on Saturday afternoon.

Lander now leads the all-time series 10-1-3 against the Fleet.
THE MATCH
For the fifth straight time to open the season, an early goal was scored in an Erskine match. This time it went the way of the visiting Bearcats as Charlie Curtis headed home a 9th minute goal to put Lander up 1-0. Tom Marriott doubled the Lander lead with a 26th minute goal as the Fleet mustered just one shot in the opening half and trailed 2-0. Erskine created more going forward in the second half, but allowed 14 second-half shots from the Bearcats. Marriott added another in the 52nd minute before Max McNulty scored the fourth and final goal for the visitors in the 78th minute to seal a 4-0 Lander win.

Lander outshot Erskine 19 to four overall and 12 to two in shots on target. Erskine goalkeeper
Evan Zizek made seven saves.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine begins Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. with a home match against Southern Wesleyan University (0-3, 0-1 CC). Erskine leads the all-time series 4-3-1, and won 9-0 at Southern Wesleyan this past spring.
