FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Erskine College men's volleyball team (9-15, 4-9 CC) were swept by Emmanuel College (10-12, 6-8 CC) 21-25, 13-25, 18-25 in the Shaw Athletic Center on Thursday night.

THE SERIES
Emmanuel won all the meetings with the Fleet this season including a sweep on the final day of the regular season in Due West and another sweep on Thursday.

THE MATCH
Set 1: Early mistakes from the Lions gave Erskine the lead to begin to the first set, and the teams went back-and-forth all the way until a Cole Vigo kill tied the set at 14. Then, Emmanuel went on a 7-1 scoring run, taking a commanding lead en route to a 25-21 win in Set 1. Kacper Rybarczyk led the Fleet with three kills in the set.

Set 2: Emmanuel jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in the second set, and although the Fleet got within four points, the Lions cruised to a 25-13 win in Set 2. Vigo and Jacob Whyte both tallied an ace in the set for Erskine.
 
Set 3: The teams exchanged the first few points of a third set that saw both teams have early leads. Moments later, a pair of service errors helped the Fleet get level at 13 apiece. But, Emmanuel won the next four points and had a 17-13 lead. Rybarczyk, Whyte, and Tome Filkov all had kills to close out the set, but the Lions finished off the sweep with a 25-18 in the third set to eliminate the Fleet from the 2021 Conference Carolinas Tournament.

THE PLAYER
Kacper Rybarczyk tallied a team-high eight kills on 17 attempts and had a pair of blocks for the Fleet in the loss.
 
THE TEAM
Erskine hit an even .000 (21 K / 21 E / 73 TA), a season low, for the match. The Fleet totaled six blocks to Emmanuel's five, but the Lions hit .392 as a team.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine's 2021 season comes to an end and the Fleet will now prepare for next year.
