THE SERIES
The Fleet still lead the all-time series against Belmont Abbey 19-11 but have lost five straight against the Crusaders.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Belmont Abbey starter Alannah Browne and Erskine starter Hannah Houge exchanged zeroes through the first four innings as the game was scoreless heading into the fifth inning. An error by the Fleet, though, in the top of the fifth inning allowed the Crusaders to get on the board and take a 1-0 lead. But, Erskine answered back in the bottom half when Shi Cain tripled down the right field line and scored Sydney McInnis to tie the game at one apiece. But, Cain was stranded at third as a lineout ended the Fleet's half of the fifth inning. But, the Crusaders regained the lead behind two RBI singles, one from Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, Payton Whitley, and jumped back in front 3-1. Erskine got a leadoff base runner in the sixth, but could not bring her around and the Fleet went in order in the seventh as they were eliminated from the Conference Carolinas Tournament with a 3-1 loss against third-seeded Belmont Abbey.

THE PLAYER
GAME 1: Shi Cain was 2-for-2 with an RBI triple in the fifth inning for the Fleet's lone run of the game.

Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Year Hannah Houge went the distance again on Friday for the Fleet, allowing just two earned runs and had six strikeouts in what could be the senior's last appearance on what was a remarkable four-year career as a member of the Flying Fleet.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine has been eliminated from the 2021 Conference Carolinas Tournament and will now turn the attention to the 2022 season as the Fleet look to rebuild and defend their Conference Carolinas regular season title next year.
