HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Erskine College men's volleyball team (6-7, 3-3 CC) was swept by Lincoln Memorial University (4-7) 25-20, 25-16, 26-24 in Mary Mars Gymnasium on Thursday night.

THE SERIES
The Railsplitters lead the all-time series 3-1, having now won the previous three matches after the Fleet opened with a five set win in 2018.
THE MATCH
Set 1:Â Erskine took the matches first two points and led 5-2 early, but the Railsplitters managed to tie it at 5-5 with the first of their four 3-0 runs. The Flying Fleet could not piece together more than two consecutive points the entire opening set and fell 25-20.
Set 2:Â The Fleet once again secured the opening point, but in set two they quickly faced a 6-3 deficit. The middle of this game heavily favored LMU as an 11-2 run was only interrupted by a service error and a
Kacper Rybarczyk kill before the Railsplitters were up 17-7 and in control. The Fleet managed nine more points but fell 25-16.

Set 3: For the first time all evening the Railsplitters scored first to open a set and although they trailed 2-1, they would go on to lead the rest of the way. The Fleet made the final set interesting late by rattling off four straight points to tie the set at 23-23, but the Railsplitters went on to take three of the next four points to secure the set and match victory, 26-24.Â

THE PLAYER
Kacper Rybarczyk led the Fleet by hitting .400 (11K / 3A / 20TA) in the match and producing a team-most eight digs.

THE TEAM
Erskine hit just .100 (29K / 21E / 80TA) for the match, while the Railsplitters nearly doubled their efforts by collecting a .296 (38 K / 14 E / 81 TA) hitting percentage. LMU amassed two more digs than the Fleet while also picking up an additional block and an ace than their counterparts.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Fleet conclude their three-match non-conference road trip with a doubleheader tomorrow evening in Greeneville, Tennessee.

First they challenge Bluefield College from Virginia (4-7, 1-4 MSC) at 4:30 p.m. before taking on hosts Tusculum University (0-6, 0-3) at 7:00 p.m.
