THE SERIES
The Fleet trail the Bearcats 25-11 in the all-time series and have now lost four consecutive against the nearby rivals.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
After trading blows in yesterday's doubleheader with Queen's, the Fleet's bats struggled in today's series finale against Lander. The Bearcats offense, however, scored in bunches. Lander plated four runs in the second inning, three in the fourth and five in the fifth to secure the convincing 13-0 victory. Lander started Marshall Thompson started and went six innings allowing just five hits and two walks.
Â
THE PLAYER
Livan Reinoso produced two of the Fleet's seven hits on the day. Reinoso connected for a pair of singles, one in the first and another in the third. Reinoso along with shortstop
Cody Forster are the only two Fleet to have reached safely via a base hit in every game this season.
Â
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Fleet open Conference Carolinas competition with a trip to Barton College (0-0). The four-game series begins on February 19 with first pitch set for 11:00 AM.
Â
The Fleet and the Bulldogs have not met since the 2018-19 campaign when the Fleet took two of three in Wilson. N.C. Erskine leads the series 29-17 all-time.
