HOW IT HAPPENED
An
Amanda Epstein goal inside the first two minutes of the game tied the score at one apiece. But, the Trojans answered with nine straight goals before a
Faith Flanagan goal cut the Mount Olive lead to 10-2 with 19 minutes to go in the first half. The Trojans kept their foot on the gas pedal and held an 18-2 halftime lead. Flanagan and
Brittany Smith scored consecutive goals in the second half to make it a 20-4 game, and Epstein and Flanagan found the back of the net again later in the half, but the Fleet fell 24-6 against Mount Olive in their 2021 home opener.

THE PLAYER
Faith Flanagan led the Fleet with three goals and also added an assist and a caused turnover in the loss.
Mackenzie Myers made eight saves in goal for Erskine.

THE TEAM
Erskine was outshot 36 to 15 and the Trojans held a narrow 16-15 advantage in draw controls. The Trojans also forced 14 turnovers to Erskine's four.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine continues its 2021 season at Converse College (0-0, 0-0) next Saturday at 6:00 p.m. The Valkyries have had their first two matches of the season postponed. Converse leads the all-time series 9-3 and have won five straight meetings between the teams.
