THE SERIES
Erskine now leads the all-time series 11-7, and ended a brief SWU two-game winning streak with a road victory tonight.

THE GAME
The Fleet and Warriors went back-and-forth in the game's opening stages, but after an Anzya Cook three gave Erskine a 9-8 lead, the Warriors scored seven unanswered to take a six-point lead and Southern Wesleyan held a 20-16 lead after the first quarter. Erskine's defense began to impose its will after a slow first quarter, and a Megan Jones three gave Erskine the lead back at 29-27 with 2:44 to go in the first half. Mariah Corry scored a layup that beat the buzzer as the Fleet led 31-28 at the half. Corry opened the third quarter with another layup, and in what became a defensive-minded quarter, Erskine continued to hold a narrow lead. Jones buried another triple with under a minute remaining and the Fleet led 38-33 going into the fourth quarter. An early Warriors three cut the lead to two, but Erskine followed with a 13-2 run to extend their lead into double figures for the first time tonight. A few possessions later, Cook hit a jumper before Jones' nailed her sixth three of the night to blow the game wide open, as Erskine earned its first win of the season in the 2021 season finale at Southern Wesleyan by a score of 60-42.

THE PLAYER
Megan Jones scored a career-high 20 points on 7-14 shooting including going 6-10 from beyond the arc. Jones also tallied two rebounds, an assist and a steal for the Fleet.

THE TEAM
Erskine shot 20-60 (33.3%) from the field and was 9-33 (27.3%) from the three-point line and 11-15 (73.3%) from the free throw line. Erskine outrebounded the Warriors 47 to 34 and had seven more offensive rebounds than Southern Wesleyan. Erskine also outscored the Warriors in the paint 20 to 14.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Fleet did not qualify for the 2021 Conference Carolinas Tournament, as only the top 8 seeds make the field, so Erskine's season comes to an end, despite the win tonight.
